Mr Bowen QC has decided to suspend the Independent QC Investigation pending the final determination of the Judicial Review proceedings brought by Mrs Sargeant against the Welsh Government.
Mr Bowen QC has written to Core Participants to inform them that it would not be appropriate to take any further steps in the Investigation, including obtaining evidence, in circumstances where, if the Judicial Review is successful, the procedure of the Investigation and powers of the Investigator may change.
The Independent QC Investigation published a call for evidence in June and originally planned to produce its report by the end of the year. The timetable for the Investigation will be updated once the Judicial Review claim has been determined.
